Education & Outreach
GRAIL’s Education and Public Outreach (E/PO) program targets broad segments of the population with particular emphasis on middle school girls and under-represented minorities. The plan is designed to convey the excitement of science and technology in the context of lunar exploration. Dr. Sally Ride, America’s first woman in space, will lead the program.

The education component of the plan leverages previous investments by the GRACE and LRO missions, and meets or exceeds National Science Education Standards and the NASA education goals.

The public outreach and Student Collabora-tion elements of the plan feature up to 5 "E/PO MoonKam" camera-heads on each spacecraft that will provide images and video of the lunar surface, deep-space, Earth, and the GRAIL spacecraft. The Student Collaboration includes a separate E/PO MoonKam student-run mission operations center similar to the already successful EarthKAM on the ISS, also run by Dr. Sally Ride at UCSD.
